Let’s explore the most famous Ha Giang tourist sites!
The first is Dong Van stone plateau. Being 132 kilometers from Ha Giang Town by 4C road, Dong Van rocky plateau is a rocky mountain region and majestic in the north pole, magnificent scenery and impressive. The plateau is at an average elevation of 1,000-1,600 meters above sea level, on an area of approximately 2,356 square kilometers, and is one of Vietnam’s distinctive limestone karsts, crusting of the earth’s crust. Dong Van accounts for 80% of limestone formations, makes up of very different environmental conditions and periods of development that last for hundreds of millions of years. Since April 2010, Dong Van rock plateau’s profile has been submitted to UNESCO, and as a global geological park.
The second is the green pearl in the middle of the stone plateau – the Vuong residence. The beautiful palace, shaped ? (a Chinese character) and surrounded by rows of trees, is preserved intact despite the ups and downs of history, rain and wind, bringing with it a fascinating historical story. The Vuong residence was started in 1019 and completed 10 years later with a total cost of up to 150 billion Vietnam dong. The turtle-shaped hill with rare turtles and strong rows of tall trees rose up to a house shaped like “Vuong” horns as imprinted in the blue sky.
The third point is Lung Cu Flag Tower – “the first drawing of the map of the motherland begins”, where every Vietnamese wants to conquer once in their lives. The distance of 1.5 kilometers to Lung Cu flag pole, going through 389 stone steps and climbing 140 spiral stairs in the heart of the flag, we will set foot on the top of the flag pole. There is a yellow star red flag with an area of 54 square meters, metaphorical of 54 ethnic fraternities, flys in the wind.
The fourth is the Road to Happiness – the path of blood and flowers. This 200-kilometers-in-length road was finished by thousands of young volunteers from 16 ethnic groups in 8 northern provinces of Vietnam for 6 years (1959-1965), with over 2 million working days. Particularly, Ma Peng Li road was built by a suicide team hanging on the cliffs encroach on centimeters to do in 11 months. The Road to Happiness is a bridging bridge that brings back high light, with all the effort as well as the blood and life of the young volunteers.
With the majestic and unique landscape like Ma Li Leng mountainside, the sentence “Not coming to the Great Wall, not the hero” is transferred to “Not to Ma Pi Leng, not the master of the pecker”. The name “Ma Pi Leng” in Chinese means “horse nose” literally. This name refers to the greatest danger of the top of the mountain, where the slope is so high that the horse passes by and then stop breathing, or which in the shape of the vertical mount horse nose. However, according to some indigenous Mong, the proper name of the pass is Mui Pia Leng, meaning “cats nose.”
Referring to the Old Quarter, except for Hoi An ancient town or Hanoi’s 36 old streets but also Dong Van old town, Dong Van town, Dong Van, Ha Giang. The old town has 40 rooftops nestled under rocky mountains. In the morning, the old town looks like a picture with the perfect mixture of two-tone: the bright yellow of the sun and the gray of the old houses. If tourists stand in a high position and look down, tourists can see two ancient streets running into the foot of the mountain beside the U-shaped market roofing yin-yang. According to the documents from a seminar on the ancient town of Dong Van, in this area, there are about 40 houses with the age of over 100 years, especially, those houses nearly 200 years like that of Mr. Luong Huy Ngo and Tay people, built around 1860. Since 2006, Dong Van district held every 3 months “ancient town” on the 14th, 15th, 16th lunar month. Accordingly, the households in the old quarter all have red lanterns hanging, some activities such as displaying brocade ethnic groups, performing and selling traditional dishes of ethnic groups with the expectation of attracting tourists. It’s like a Hoi An old town.
