Phung Island (Ong Dao Dua Island)
Phung Island is located on a floating island in the central part of Tien River, in Tan Thach Commune, Chau Thanh District, so visitors who want to travel this land can go by motorboat to visit coconut candy factory, factory producing souvenirs from coconut shell. Besides, visitors can ride the horse carriage to visit fruit orchard, or take a rest under coconut leaf house to drink tea with honey and whipped, enjoy the tropical fruits, listening to music of folk songs.
Phung Island has Dua Religion relic with the area of approximately 1.500 square meters, whose the status of architectural items built from the time of Pope Nguyen Thanh Nam of Dua Religion is preserved (Nine Dragon yard; Peace Tower where Mr Thanh Nam teaches Dharma and his religion, has strange architecture with the touching dragon and phoenix attached with broken pieces of dishes; A big peak). Nguyen Thanh Nam claims to be “the Ambassador of Peace”. His policy is to bring peace from all religions and live on fruits (not eating other produce). Dong Khoi Guerrilla Village
Dong Khoi Guerrilla Village, 15 kilometers away from Ben Tre Town, belongs to Dinh Thuy Commune, Mo Cay District, Ben Tre Province. This was the first revolt of the Dong Khoi movement in 1960. There is an exhibition of all the crude weapons produced during the two anti-French and American wars. Ben Tre is constructing Dong Khoi monument to recreate the image of the village that used to be the revolution’s foundation of the South. When visiting here, almost tourists will reminisce about the heroic struggle of Viet Nam’s previous generation.
Snail Island, about 10 kilometers away from Ben Tre Town, reaches the width of 8.3 kilometers and the wide of more than 1 kilometers. This is the largest floating island on Ham Luong River. In the beginning, this island is very small and low, and there are many snails clinging to the flooded plants on alluvial soil and rapidly reproducing and becoming a significant source of income for local people. Therefore, the island is widely known as Snail Island. In early 19th century, people started coming here to explore and settle. During the period of resistance, many families in Snail Island kept the revolutionary cadre in the hardest days. This is a soil island with the area of 65 hectares located on Tien Giang River, lying between Tan Thach and Quoi Son Commune in Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province and being 22 kilometers from the center of Ben Tre town. In Qui Island, there are fruit gardens such as saffron, longan, pomelo … On the cruise to Tien River, visitors often visit the island to enjoy tasty fruits as well as shrimp and fish.
Tien Island, located on Ham Luong River in Tien Long Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province, is 15 kilometers on water and 23 kilometers on road from the center of Ben Tre town. With an area of 7 hectares, the shore of Tien Island consists of sandy soils. Whenever the tide is going out, large sands is often exposed.. Cai Mon Orchard
Cai Mon Orchard, located in Vinh Thanh Commune, Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province, is a traditional village in the South of Vietnam with narrow streets covered with green trees. Cai Mon craft village specializes in supplying seedlings like durian, mangosteen, mango, longan, citrus, etc as well as animal-shaped bonsais. Vam Ho bird sanctuary
This is the land of the two communes My Hoa and Tan Xuan, in Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province, about 52 kilometers from Ben Tre town. Ho Chi Minh 120 kilometers on road, 100 kilometers on waterway. Tuyen Linh Pagoda
Tuyen Linh Pagoda, located in Minh Duc Commune, Mo Cay District, Ben Tre Province, was built in Tan Dau lunar year (1861), in the 14th year of the King Tu Duc’s reign. At first, the pagoda made of bamboo, leaves and used for worshiping Ms Sam was named Tien Linh. The Venerable Khanh Phong became the pagoda’s abbot. Tuyen Linh Pagoda is a place where Vice-versa Nguyen Sinh Sac- Uncle Ho’s father- has stayed many times.
In two resistance war, the pagoda is a place to hide and nurture revolutionary officers, so it have been destroyed twice by bombers and fire. The pagoda was restored many times and was rebuilt in 1999 on a very old background. However, the artifacts associated with the past of the pagoda are not much different. On May 19 every year, there are many festivals for cultural exchanges and celebrating Uncle Ho’s birthday.
Festival of Nguyen Dinh Chieu
Nguyen Dinh Chieu, a Vietnamese poet, was born on July 1, 1822 in Tan Khanh village, Binh Duong district, Tan Binh district, Gia Dinh province. He passed the baccalaureate examinations at Gia Dinh school in 1843. When three eastern provinces belong to the French colonists, he refused to live in the occupied area of the enemy. After that, Nguyen Dinh Chieu and his family ran to An Duc village, Vinh Long (Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province now). When staying here, he taught pupils, did medical treatment for people and wrote poetry.
Every year, on July 1, the traditionally cultural festival is held by Ben Tre authorities to commemorate the most patriotic poet not only of the South region but also of Vietnam during the anti-French period. Festival 1/7 is held solemnly, but very excitingly with many activities such as martial arts performances, lion dance, drum festival, the festival of the amateurs, the pageant about characters in the story Luc Van Tien, rice cooking contest, art photo exhibition, calligraphy writing, poetry reciting, cai luong and ancient tuong performing.
